FAQs about Iyengar Yoga of Adams County
About
Alison Lintal, Certified Introductory I/II Iyengar Yoga Teacher, offers Iyengar Yoga classes in the heart of Adams County, Pennsylvania.
What is Iyengar Yoga?
Iyengar Yoga has been developed from the teachings of B.K.S. Iyengar and his family. Iyengar Yoga, known for its emphasis on proper alignment, relies on the use of props – such as blocks, blankets, belts, bolsters and chairs and detailed instructions to allow for longer holds in the asana which serve to awaken the body’s intelligence. It is accessible for students of all ages and physical conditions.
Why Iyengar Yoga?
Certified Iyengar Yoga teachers undergo rigorous training and evaluations before they become certified. Yoga is an individual art, science and philosophy and Iyengar yoga does not take a one-size-fits-all approach. Rather, Iyengar Yoga teachers clearly demonstrate the pose, offer individualized corrections for each student and modifications of the asana, as necessary.
Attire for Class
Please wear shorts or footless leggings/yoga pants. It is important for the instructor to be able to see your knees and elbows. Long, baggy pants are not recommended. Keep jewelry and perfumes to a minimum.
Preparation for Class
Have a light breakfast at least 1-2 hours before class. Do not come to class with a full stomach or after eating a heavy meal. Prior to attending your first class, please arrive 15 minutes early to discuss any medical issues, physical limitations or questions you may have with the instructor.
If you have a yoga mat, please bring it. All other props will be provided.
