Slow Cooker Applesauce
Ingredients
- 8 apples (peeled, cored, and thinly sliced. Your choice on variety - a mix is best!)
- 1/2 cup water
- 3/4 cups packed brown sugar (use less if you're using a sweeter apple!)
- 1/2 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice*
Note
Pumpkin pie spice is a blend of spices often used for... you guessed it: pumpkin pie! Consider saving a used spice container and mixing your own blend for use whenever it calls for it in a recipe. Here's how to make it:
Sift 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon, 1 teaspoon ground ginger, ½ teaspoon ground nutmeg, ½ teaspoon ground allspice, and ¼ teaspoon ground cloves. Store in a sealed container.
Directions
Step 1 | |
Combine the apples and water in a slow cooker; cook on Low for 6 to 8 hours. Stir in the brown sugar and pumpkin pie spice; continue cooking another 30 minutes. |

Also add a pinch to your Mulled Cider… You Won’t believe the Tiny addition will make a World of Difference to your Harvest Favorites…. Tim,
Where do you get the Susquehanna Spice Co’s “”Your Just Desserts”
We actually sell it here in our market!
I am new to this spice. I bought Your Just Desserts I see on bottle has amount for things. Like pumpkin pie says use 1 3/4t of Your Just Desserts to pumpkin pie. Is this the only spice I would use or use this spice with other spices that is listed in recipe. What is listed on the bottle is this the only things to use the spice in?
I believe you could substitute the “Your Just Desserts” spice blend for the “pumpkin pie spice” blend in any recipe at the same ratio.
