DEVELOPMENT OF FYREFLY

Bruce Hollabaugh

THE FOUNDATION OF FYREFLY: The idea for Fyrefly was masterminded by our beloved Bruce. With the growing number of apple breeding programs trying to create the next “new hit”, Bruce believed we could do the same. There was a particular apple on the farm that we though had potential. We proceeded to work with a local nursery to graft cuttings from this particular apple tree.

2023:  Two years later we launched our extended line of Fyrefly apple products. We introduced Fyrefly applesauce, peanut butter, snitz, and shelf-stable cider. Our harvest quantities are continuing to grow larger and larger!

2020-2021: After many extended discussions, we finally decided on the perfect name for the apple, “Fyrefly”. The logo and tagline were soon to follow. The first planting of FyreFly took place in spring of 2020, with the first harvest taking place in 2021.

2025: We debuted fresh pressed Fyrefly apple cider. Fyrefly also sees use in our delicious baked goods such as pies, dumplings, and cinnamon bread.
